While trying to locate the Superhero song from Microsoft, (sung by an Indian rock group Parikrama) I typed in "Microsoft.co.in" and reached a site with no connection to Microsoft what-so-ever; a company called eTechSupport. The domain Whois records point to:

Want To Access Blocked Websites? Try Google Proxy!

Many a times friends ask me give the address of a working proxy server, so that they can access the blocked websites in their Offices or Computer Labs. A proxy server is a kind of buffer between your computer and the Internet resources you are accessing. Thus by connecting to a Proxy Server you can actually bypass the filtering mechanism.

Thousands of free Proxy servers are available on Google results. But why searching for a Proxy Server when Google can itself be used as a proxy.

This trick is slightly old but pretty cool nevertheless. Just use the following syntax:

http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.site.com

Replace the www.site.com with the site that you are trying to access. In this case, Google will access the pages like a web proxy and translate it back to the same language (english to english here). If you are accessing a site in a different language change the langpair to the appropriate tags.

Do remember that this technique is not guaranteed to work everywhere or with every kind of firewall or access-control system out there, nor will it hide your IP address. But do let me know how the Google proxy idea worked for you.

BitTorrent technology works on sharing files among users and there is no centralized server, where data remains available all the time. Because of this reason almost all registration-torrent-site (private trackers, always faster download than public trackers, but you have to upload equal amount afterwards) have policy that every member, who download something using torrents from their site, have to upload also.

1. Download any torrent from private tracker and open it with BitComet.

3. Immediately after you see the green arrow, right click the torrent and choose properties -> advanced

4. Place the cursor exactly after the dot "." and exactly before the "net" or "com" or "info" or "org".
5. Just press enter (return keyboard key), so you can split the tracker's address in two lines,

6. Return to main window and watch your download continuing, and watch the tracker jamming.

N.B.- The Torrent will remain in ur profile for almost an hour.Your Download n Upload amount will not change During this time. Coyrighted Bollywood Movie Dhoom 2 Removed from YouTube

On the first day of release, full bollywood movie Dhoom 2 was uploaded by someone on YouTube. Within 2 days it was removed at the request of copyright owner Yash Raj Films. Movie Dhoom 2, was released on 24th Nov.

YouTube and Google Video allows users to upload, store and distribute videos for free or for a fee. This mechanism is now abused heavily by users for Bollywood films, music videos, and directly infringes on original rights holders' property. Google Video and YouTube policy does not allow content to be uploaded by anyone not permitted by copyright law to do so, and the company frequently removes uploaded infringing content. Nonetheless, a large amount of it continues to be uploaded. Generally, unless the copyright holder reports them, YouTube only discovers these videos via indications within the YouTube community through self-policing.

Dhoom 2 is not the first case of Copyrighted movie upload. Youtube still contains some other movies like - "Masti", "Hera Pheri" and "Phir Hera Pheri". Google Video also contains latest bollywood movies like - "Jaaneman" and "Woh Lamhe". Google Video has always been in controversies with copyright infringement. Earlier when Google Video had contain hindi films like "Bunty Aur Babli", "Paheli", "Neal 'N' Nikki", "Ek Khilari Ek Hasina" and "Swades", in communications with Google, bollywood entrepreneurs received a response in which Google suggested to "contact the user directly", to remove content, or "file a complaint" using standard form to contact Google Video. While one waits for the issue to resolve, the filmmaker could be losing real money as new releases are downloaded and passed around on PC, iPOD, Sony PSP.

Hollywood is well organised and they have proper laws against such issues but Bollywood doesn't have the resources to launch these types of lawsuits. So this creates yet another piracy threat to Bollywood. And now anyone can watch a pirated movie. Right now you can download Bollywood films through file sharing networks, subscription websites and Internet Relay Chat (IRC). The latest films are available soon after they are released. But all this requires technical skills and this is hard to do. What Google and YouTube has done is to make this whole process much easier - so that anyone who can use Google can simply search for films or music videos and click to watch them.

CrossLoop : Easy Sharing Of Desktop With Friends

CrossLoop provides a quick, easy, secure and completely free way to give a colleague, a friend, or a relative access to your computer. Once it's downloaded, you launch the application and it shows you a single window with two tabs, one for looking at someone else's screen, and the other for making your screen viewable by other people. The windows use both, large fonts and a minimal layout of buttons and text boxes to make it easy for any level of user to work with.

The first great thing about Crossloop is that it's free! It's not only the financial cost that this saves, it also removes any messing around with payment systems or serial numbers, making the download and install process very fast.

One key innovation is the use of an 'access code' for controlling remote sessions. This is an auto-generated number that you see when you start trying to show other people your screen. The beauty of it is, all the other person needs to do is type that same number into their 'join session' window, and Crossloop will locate and connect you to that session. This is a brilliant approach, since it removes the usual hunting around for IP numbers or network locations that other applications require, which is a big hurdle for most users. The metaphor is very much like a phone number, and since it's long and auto-generated for each session, it's unlikely that someone malicious can gain access to your screen through it.

The odd nature of sharing a desktop cursor and the inability to add multiple users makes CrossLoop illogical for proper business presentations. Also this works only on Windows platform. However, the complete system access and 128-bit encrypted connection combine to create a great solution for low-budget, long-distance tech support.

Guests can open, edit, and save files, and use e-mail, IM, or any other program on your computer, as if they were sitting in front of the machine. No router configuration is required - a big plus. The key purpose here is collaboration; CrossLoop doesn't work without explicit permission from the host.

One slight down-side is that the Windows firewall sometimes warns about the network communication being done by Crossloop, asking it it should be blocked or allowed. This wasn't a big problem, but did add an extra step to talking someone through using it.

Since simplicity is a key attraction of CrossLoop, it lacks more advanced features. Currently, it doesn't support any file transfers, nor can more than two users share one desktop. Also, once the host machine starts a sharing session, the connection must be made in two minutes or it times out. While the interface and the features are simple, CrossLoop offers a secure and fast method for two users to collaborate on one PC.

One clever touch was the addition of a feedback dialog asking you to rate the session after it ended, and offering you the chance to share Crossloop with your friends. Hopefully this will give them some good data to keep improving the product, and spread the word about this great way of working remotely.

Overall, this is a great product that I'll be using for all my remote trouble-shooting, and I highly recommend it.

ATM Pin Reversal - Truth Behind The eRumour

Today,I got an email forward which was conveying the message that if one is confronted by a robber and forced to reveal your ATM PIN, you can enter the PIN number in the reverse direction and the ATM would automatically dial the National Security forces typically like 911 Emergency Team in US or 100 in India.

This was the forwarded email that I recieved.

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to
the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Please pass this along to everyone possible.

First I dismissed the email as another scrappy flappy forward but subsequently my inner instinct advised me to launch Google Toolbar on the job to find out if something tangible is latently hiding within that. And voila! It seemed that this in fact comes under realizable and implementable technology however the negative fact is that it does not actually exist now.

In This system every ATM account would have two PIN numbers---the normal PIN used to withdraw money and what he calls the "ATM SafetyPIN" to alert police that something bad was happening at the ATM. It is also called as ‘Reverse PIN’ or ‘Panic PIN’. When you enter the correct PIN (Personal Identification Number) in the reverse order, the ATM machine gets alerted and automatically dials the preconfigured National Security Force number to have the robber cornered.

Origin: 'Joseph Zhinger', a Chicago-based businessman first visualized the system SafetyPIN (TM). It got started in 1994 and patented in 1998. Zingher has offered to let Illinois-based banks to use it for free but some of them have said they think it would be too expensive and that ATM crime is not frequent enough. Zingher says that ATM crime is much higher than believed because not all crime reporting reflects whether it has taken place in connection with an ATM or forced withdrawal of cash.

However, the necessity of such a system assumes paramount importance. It also assumes a great deal of coordination with Police force and they have to be in the act of crime within seconds. Very many incidents of car hijacking ends up in ATM pin revealing and robbery.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Beta 2 Available Now

RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 5 Beta 2 is already being released to the company’s partners and customers. Red Hat currently expects the full production release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 in early 2007, will provide the latest open source technologies for improved performance, security and flexibility.

This is the first Red Hat Enterprise Linux release that includes Xen-based open source virtualization technology. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Beta 2 release contains virtualization support on the x86 and x86-64 architectures as well as a technology preview of Xen for Itanium 2.

RHEL 5 Beta 2 is available to existing Red Hat subscribers via RHN. The beta channels should automatically appear in your account. I just created a second Gmail account yesterday and was very frustrated checking the 2 separate Gmail accounts with logging in an out.

Using the Internet Explorer in Firefox Tab - Firefox Add-Ons, use Firefox, open up one Firefox Tab and one IE tab, and log into your two Gmail accounts, one in each. No more logging in and out!

Another alternative is set 1 Gmail account as main account, then let Gmail automatically forward incoming mail the main account.

Here’s how to forward messages automatically:

Log in to your secondary Gmail account.
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Click Forwarding and POP along the top of the Mail Settings box.
Enter the email address to which you’d like your messages forwarded.
Select the action you’d like your messages to take from the drop-down menu. You can choose to keep Gmail’s copy of the message in your inbox, or you can send it automatically to All Mail or Trash.’
Click Save Changes.

You also can set up filters to forward messages that meet specific criteria.

Microsoft has closed Customer Preview Program of Windows Vista Release Candidate 1. It was launched in Sept 2006. This Windows Vista RC1 version is a limited edition that will expire in June 2007. Meanwhile, this version doesn’t have any support or update from Microsoft.

Windows Vista RC 1 is much better and stable compare to Windows Vista beta. Meanwhile, this version has eliminated a lot of the annoying security and compatibility problems.

Earlier Windows Vista RC1 installation required a previous release version product key but later on microsoft allowed new participants to register under Customer Preview Program and get their own Keys for this release, which is required to install and activate the opearating system.

That video was originally created by a 25 years old genious guy Robert Blankenheim, using Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Newtek Lightwave, Avid DV Express and Vegas Video. The trailor contained objects from 23 different movies, including Basketball Diaries, Demolition Man, Austin Powers, Abyss, The Interpreter and Catch Me If You Can. Backing up your essential data is important—and can be annoying. For most users, if it's not easy, it won't happen. Automated backup to a remote location is a nice, simple solution, but the monthly storage fee may be another roadblock. Enter Mozy Remote Backup, a free service that will securely store up to 2 GB of files for Windows XP users and automatically back up changes. If two gigabytes won't suffice, you can pay about a tenth of the going rate for five, ten, or twenty gigabytes. Mozy is still in beta, but it's fully functional and available to the public.

To sign up for free storage, you complete a simple survey. Mozy uses this information to send you targeted advertising—but don't run away screaming. The advertising comes in the form of a once-a-week email directly from Mozy, and they don't give your e-mail address to advertisers. That seems a small price to pay. The free service is aimed strictly at backup, not file exchange, data migration or other tangential purposes. To that end, it only allows a few restore operations per month. The exact number has wavered back and forth between 4 and 5 during the beta.

You can get more free storage by signing up friends and colleagues. For each referral you get an additional 250 MB of storage—as does the friend you referred. During an introductory period (the exact length hasn't been decided) you can add as many referrals as you want and keep the additional storage in perpetuity, even if you switch to a paid storage plan. After the introductory period you'll be limited to four referrals—an extra gigabyte of storage.

Of course, if you have a home business or just a lot of data you may need more storage. Mozy offers 5, 10, and 20 gigabyte plans for $19.95, $29.95, and $39.95 respectively. At first this sounds similar to other backup services, but these prices are per year—most services charge about that much per month. A Mac version of Mozy is not yet available.

How to Save a Wet Cell Phone

Ever dropped your cell phone in the sink, or even worse, the toilet? Did you ever leave it in your pocket and run it through the washer? It usually means you have to replace your phone, but sometimes if you're fast, you can save
the phone.

Steps :
- Get it out of the water as soon as possible: The plastic covers on cell phones are fairly tight, but water can enter the phone over time. But this time may be quite short - 20 seconds or less. So grab your phone quickly!
- Remove the battery : Cutting power to your phone is a crucial first step in saving it. Many circuits inside the phone will survive immersion in water provided they are not attached to a power source when wet.
- Remove your SIM card: Some or all of your valuable contacts (along with other data) could be stored on your SIM. To some people this could be more worth saving than the phone itself. SIM cards survive water damage well, but some of the following steps are unnecessary i.e. don't heat it. Just pat it dry and leave it aside until you need to connect your phone to your cellular network.
- Dry your phone: Obviously you need to remove as much of the water as soon as possible, so you can to prevent it from getting into the phone. Use a towel or paper towel to remove as much of the water as possible.
- Allow the phone to dry: Since you do not want to ruin your phone or lose all of the numbers in your phone book, you need to allow the phone to dry. Also, ringtones and graphics stay with the phone - not the SIM. Don't try putting the battery back on to see if it works as this would risk damaging the phone with a short circuit. Leaving your phone in a bowl of dry rice will help to expedite moisture evaporation.
- Heat your phone: Apply enough heat to your phone to cause the water to evaporate without water-logging your digital screen. One of the best things you can do to save a cell phone is to set it on the back of your computer monitor or TV screen over the heat vents. This is usually the perfect amount of heat to fix your phone. The convection action of the heat vents will help carry away the moisture in your phone. Leave the phone on the heat for at least 2-3 days.
- Test your phone: After you have waited 3 days, make sure everything is clean and dry looking and re-attach the battery to the phone and see if it works. If your phone does not work repeat step 4. If it still won't work, try taking your cell phone to an authorized dealer. Sometimes they can fix it.

Alternative Alcohol Soak Method

Soak in Alcohol. Alcohol is hydrophilic (attracts water), and it will dissolve all the water in the phone, which will then pour out of the phone with the alcohol. Any remaining alcohol will evaporate. Alcohol will not harm your phone but may mess up glue (from stickers and the like). Use 95% alcohol, not the regular 70% rubbing type. Do it outside! Be sure to remove your battery first. When done, leave your phone outside for a day or two to dry.
You can use denatured alcohol, which you can buy at any hardware store. This alcohol can be used on electronics and it evaporates quickly. This is commonly used to clean remote controlled cars that have electronic components, but get dirty frequently. Spray it on or rise and let it evaporate. If you can open the phone, even better.

Caution : If you use alcohol make sure to do so outside, and do not apply heat in any form, not even the gentle heat of a monitor. Do not hook up the battery till the alcohol smell dissipates.

Tips

Don't put the battery in for at least three days, or longer if your digital screen is foggy.
Another way to dry out your phone is to place it in front of an air conditioner or air conditioning vent. Cold air won't damage your phone , and air from an air conditioner is dry, and so will evaporate water faster than you might think. Warm air from a reverse-cycle air conditioner works even better, of course. If you dry your phone in this way overnight, it should be fine by the morning.
An alternate drying technique is to seal the phone (battery, SIM card, SD card all removed) in a plastic bag with a few of the silica packs that come packed with shoes, coats, electronics. Leave the phone in the bag for a day or 2, and the silica packs will absorb the moisture.
One other way to assist in the drying process is to put your cell phone in a disposable baby diaper. Works for babies and can work for the cell phone as well.
If your phone falls in the ocean or other salt water, rinse with fresh water before crystals can form after removing battery.
Try opening your phone if you can. You'll probably need a TORX screwdriver for that, but it's worth it. This may void your warranty, but it is likely the water damage already has.
It is likely that the dunk in water will kill the battery. Fortunately you can buy another for 20 to 40 US dollars. The phone itself usually survives.
Corrosion is a threat. You may want to consider soaking your phone in distilled water to wash away any minerals it picked up from the original water.

"Torrent" - short for BitTorrent, is a technology which breaks up files into pieces and downloads them from many servers at once (which saves transfer time and network bandwidth.)

BitTorrent is designed to distribute large amounts of data widely without incurring the corresponding consumption in costly server and bandwidth resources. Technically BitTorrent is the name of a peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution protocol, as users connect to each other directly to send and receive portions of the file and is the name of a free software implementation of that protocol.

Other popular softwares are Bitcomet, uTorrent, Azureus,,BitLord, ABC and TurboBT.

Creating and publishing torrents :

To share a file or group of files through BitTorrent, clients first create a “torrent”. This is a small file which contains metadata about the files to be shared, and about the host computer that coordinates the file distribution. A torrent file always has the suffix '.torrent'.

Clients who have finished downloading the file may also choose to act as seeders, providing a complete copy of the file. After the torrent file is created, a link to it is placed on a website or elsewhere, and it is registered with a tracker. BitTorrent trackers maintain lists of the clients currently participating in the torrent.

Downloading torrents and sharing files :

Using a web browser, users navigate to the site listing the torrent, download it, and open it in a BitTorrent client. After opening the torrent, the BitTorrent client connects to the tracker, which provides it with a list of clients currently downloading the file or files.
